Václav Havel was a playwright, essayist, dissident, prisoner of conscience and president of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic, one of the greatest figures of Czech, European and world history of the 20th century. This is how encyclopedias and professional studies depict him. However, it is rarely stated that Havel was also an enthusiastic, thoughtful, creative and popular chef in his life. Although he did not achieve as important results in this area as in others, the time spent in the kitchen complemented his life, enriched the lives of his loved ones and helped to create strong bonds, uniting like-minded friends in difficult times of normalization. Due to these reasons, we dedicate this small culinary remark to him.

We do not want to build a culinary monument to Havel, nor to set him as an example for healthy eating, but we simply wish to please those who will be happy to get acquainted with this less known part of his life.

All proceeds from the sale of this book (including royalties) will be used to enhance the activities of the VH Library.
