Anticodes Václav Havel

"Since the last publication of Anticodes in 1999, research in Václav Havel's archives has progressed, and so 7 graphic poems have been newly found along with the complete text of the author's theoretical text about them and also the originals of seventeen previously published typograms. As mentioned previously, this publication contains 7 new typograms: one was found in the author's estate (we professionally call it the "socialist problem"), four in the program brochure for the production of The Memorandum, staged in 1966 at the Cologne Theater and one in the typescript collection by Karel Kosík. The seventh one is a typogram, which we professionally called (wait) and which comes from the estate of Jan Zábrana, to whom the author sent it in a letter sometime at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s. This is probably the oldest Havel´s typogram. A unique discovery, which we also included in the book, is the complete text of Havel's essay on visual poetry, which he wrote in the mid-1960s - also at the time when he was working on the Anticodes."
