Europe as a task. Selected speeches 1990–2009 Václav Havel

From the very beginning of his days in the top political functions, the integration of the continent and the status of Czechoslovakia, Czech Republic respectively, became one of his principal presidential topics, to which he devoted hundreds of meetings with the public, politicians and journalists during his travels, both inland and abroad. Through the thoughts of the author, it is possible to observe the fundamental changes after the fall of the iron curtain and in the following years. After the tragical experiences of the 20th century, ensuring both internal and external security of Europe became and integral part of all Václav Havel´s reflections and contemplations. Therefore, this collection even includes Havel´s reflections about extending the Northatlantic alliance. However, a more detailed focus on both domestic and international context exceeds the scope of this collection.
