Today's meeting is an expression of our admiration and respect for what Charter 77 has done for human rights and freedom in this country. Yesterday, we remembered the moment when the Charter got set out on its way from the house in Střešovická Street No. 64, Zdeněk Urbánek´s residency, Also on that occasion, we published an occasional print of Václav Havel's report on the origin and first days and weeks of Charter 77, under the title Assault, which, as he says in the Remote Interrogation, he once wrote somewhere and has not known where it was ever since. That is all I wanted to say, because we did not want to hold a conference on Charter 77 through the eyes of the contemporary press or through the eyes of historians who were not yet born at that time, or through the eyes of the StB, which all are other possible approaches. Our conference is called the Charter through own eyes.
